Is library-wide search free?

No, it's on the paid plans. Recording is free, but the search depends on the hosted library and the automatic transcription that runs on every uploaded recording. Both of those are paid. The free tier lets you record locally; once your team is uploading recordings to the library, the search is what turns those recordings into something you can find again later.

How does the typo tolerance work?

Pretty forgiving. Type a phrase you half-remember, including a typo or two, and we'll usually find it. The threshold is one typo allowed on words four characters or longer, two typos on words eight characters or longer. So "onbording" finds "onboarding", and "auth flo" finds "auth flow". A typo on a short word like "we" won't, but that's rarely the word you're looking for anyway.

What does it search across?

Three things: the transcripts of every uploaded recording, the video titles, and the filenames of screenshots uploaded to your library. Comments and descriptions are coming next.

Who can see my recordings?

Recordings you make but haven't uploaded stay on your machine as WebM files, private to you. Once you upload a recording to your team library, it's available to everyone in your organisation and shows up in their search results too.

Do I have to keep captions visible on the recording for search to work?

No. Captions burned into the video are a separate choice from whether the transcript exists. The transcript is generated automatically on every uploaded recording either way. If you'd rather not show captions on-screen, head to your organisation's player settings and switch the default off. Search still works exactly the same.

What about live recordings? Do they get indexed immediately?

Soon after they finish processing. Once captions are ready on an uploaded recording, it shows up in search.

Can I share a search query with a teammate?

Yes. Search URLs include the query (?q=...), so a link like /recordings/search?q=billing-rewrite runs that search for whoever opens it. Drop it into a Slack thread.
