Can I really record for free?
Yes. Unlimited screen and camera recording, no time limits — just sign up for a free account and you get a small pixelmatic.co mark in the corner. You get WebM files saved locally. The paid plans unlock cloud hosting, public sharing, transcription, and team features.
How does team billing work?
You pay one price for the whole team, not per person. Every plan above Solo includes unlimited team members, so the Short plan is $29/month total whether you have 2 people or 200. Plans differ by publish allowance, storage, and features, never by headcount, so adding a teammate never raises your bill.
What counts as a publish?
A publish is when you send a recording to the cloud for hosting, transcoding, and sharing. Local WebM downloads are always free and unlimited. Paid plans include a monthly publish allowance that resets on your billing anniversary; the free tier includes 3 published videos total (a one-time allowance, not monthly). Failed publishes don't count, and you have a 2-hour grace window to delete and reclaim a credit if you publish by mistake.
What happens if I hit my publish limit?
You'll still be able to record locally — we never block recording. On a paid plan you just won't be able to send new videos to the cloud until your next billing period or until you upgrade. On the free tier, the 3 published videos are a one-time allowance, so once you've used them you'll need to upgrade to Solo to publish more. Either way, your existing hosted videos stay exactly where they are.
Do my videos ever get deleted?
No. Once a video is published, it stays until you delete it. Every paid plan — and the free tier — includes unlimited retention. Your storage cap is the only ceiling, and we've made those generous (1 GB Free, up to 1 TB on Blockbuster).
How is storage calculated?
Storage counts your original upload plus the transcoded versions we host for streaming and download. For a typical 10-minute screen recording, that works out to around 900 MB — roughly 100 MB for the source and 800 MB across the 1080p, 720p, and 480p HLS streams plus an MP4 download. So on the Short plan (75 GB) you can host ~80 ten-minute videos before needing to upgrade or clean up, and on Feature (300 GB) that jumps to ~330. Shorter or lower-resolution recordings take proportionally less.
What happens after my 14-day trial?
If you don't subscribe, you keep full access to free recording features plus 3 published videos total and 1 GB of hosted storage — nothing you've already published disappears. You just lose additional publish headroom, team features, and analytics until you choose a plan.
Can I belong to multiple organizations?
Absolutely. Each organization has its own subscription, settings, and team. Switch between them in one click. Great for freelancers and agencies working across clients.
What formats do you support?
Free recordings are saved as WebM. Paid plans include automatic transcoding to MP4 and HLS streaming, plus auto-generated thumbnails — all from a single recording.
Is there a desktop app to install?
